I have read about crate training alot and they say that puppies eventually LOVE their crate. My 8 week old puppy goes to bed well but between 4:30 and 5:30am he needs to go to the bathroom. The problem is he does not want to go back in after that and he cries and howls for about 45 minutes. How can I get him to enjoy his crate and let me get some sleep until I can get up with him for the day? Is this possible?

We have recently added a new puppy to our family. She is a 3 month old lab/pit mix. I also have a three year old male beagle. Both are adopted shelter dogs. I have had my beagle since he was 1 and had no problems at all with potty/crate training. But with the puppy lab/pit mix, it is becoming to be a huge ordeal. At first i had them in the same cage thinking that they would keep each other company, but the puppy would have accidents all over the cage and i would come home to two dogs in great need of a bath. So i purchased another cage and now keep them separate. My neighbor comes on long days to let them out and play with them so they are never crated for more than 4-5 hours at a time. but i still come home to the puppies crate full of accidents the water bowl turned over. I have tried almost everything i can think of from puppy pads to toys to nothing in the crate but no luck. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Because I’m getting 2 puppies and I want to be able to crate train them correctly so that they grow up with training. Also how long can puppies be left on their own for, in a day?

I will have a new puppy next month, and I have to make sure I know how to do this properly (I live in an apartment). With my first dog, I used these disposable mats and a solution that was supposed to mimick urine. That worked well for the most part, but I don’t know if that works with all puppies….
