Where can I buy something that will close dog crate doors automatically?

Our dogs LOVE their crates and even go into them to nap when we’re all just hanging out at home. The problem is that the crate doors (they are all the same brand) only open to a 90 degree angle, meaning that if one of the furbabies opens the crate door to get out a toy or take a nap you can trip over the open door, especially at night. Have you ever seen anything like they use on full size doors that make them shut automatically for crates? I need something that isn’t SO tight that they can’t nudge the door open if they want to get in…just a slight tension to draw the door closed slowly and gently.

Crate Training Is A Nightmare, What Do I Do?

My 5 week old Doberman puppy was peeing all over the house, so I decided that I’d crate train him, but I hate it because he’s crying and barking and whelping and he just isnt stopping. Do all dogs do this when they first start crate training?

How can I train my dog?

Well, my dog is 1 and a half years old and whenever i leave him alone in the house he just poops and pee. Will it work if i just leave him outside? I tell him to go outside after he eats. and well i have school 7:50-3:10. I don’t think i can be with him 24/7 How can i just potty train him without buying crates and pads. I got the dog from my friend. And she said that maybe the dogs just not use to the house yet. I mean the dog is new to the house. Could it be that hes not use to it?
Then he also bites tissues and paper. He goes to the bathroom and starts pulling the paper. Wth. What can i do? Please tell me how i can potty train him and stop him from biting tissues. Thanks(:

What is wrong with crate training?

personally I see nothing wrong with it. I would rather have my dog safe in a crate the be running all over the house making a mess and knocking things over.

My last dog I tried crate training but she didn’t use the crate BUT she was fine in the house and didnt make a mess.
But as a puppy she used her crate.
Theres nothing wrong with a dog seeping with you! My dogs do and I let them! They are part of my pack so I let them sleep with me.

To turn a dog crate into a ferret cage?

My boyfriend is getting a ferret for his birthday and I was thinking about caging. I was thinking about getting one of those big dog crates (made for large dogs) and putting shelves in it and using that. The only problem is that I don’t know if the bars would be too far apart and allow it to escape… any other ideas for a homemade cage are greatly appreciated. And don’t say, just buy a ferret cage. I am simply looking into alternatives, not necessarily looking for cheaper. Thanks to all!

After house training my puppy, can I exchange the crate for a dog bed?

I’m getting a German Shepherd puppy soon, and I’m planning on crate training it as my method for house training. I know that you’re supposed to buy a crate that will fit your dog’s adult size, but the large crates are very expensive, heavy, and take up alot of space.

I was thinking about buying a smaller crate that would last my puppy until he was maybe 6-8 months old. After he has been fully house trained, I would like to exchange the crate with a dog bed.

What do you think about this? I know that dogs like their crates because they’re den creatures…Will the change totally freak out my puppy? Any advice would be appreciated.
Just to clarify…When I said that I might "exchange" the crate, I didn’t mean actually returning it to the store and getting a bed in exchange for the crate. I simply meant that I would put the crate away and put a dog bed in it’s place.

I have still not decided on what to do (I will probably just play it by ear when the time comes), but thank you all for your answers and advice…It has all really helped. :)
